Sneak Preview – The Windpaddle Bimini Kayak/Canoe Sun Shade

We recently had the opportunity to check out Windpaddle’s new Bimini – a lightweight, universal sun shade which can be deployed on hardshell and inflatable kayaks, canoes and SUPs.

The new Bimini top for kayakers from Windpaddle

While originally designed for kayak fishing, the Windpaddle Bimini offers both shade and rain shelter for all paddlers without restricting paddling movement. The Bimini connects to all boats easily without need for gluing, drilling or screw holes and can be removed and stowed if the wind kicks up while out on the water. Made from the same rugged materials found in the other Windpaddle products, the Bimini stows in a coiled package, and carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Features include:

  • Weight: Just under 2 lbs
  • Size: Approx. 12 sq feet
  • Good in winds up to 6 knots
  • Packaged size: 24″ diameter by 2″ thick
Windpaddle Bimini Top on a Zoik EgoTrip ISUP

The Bimini is simple to attach – we used it on our Zoik EgoTrip ISUP paddle board one hot, California afternoon. The Bimini provided quite a bit of shade without interfering with paddling. This is a great option for long days of fishing or those looking for a lazy afternoon on the water.

But don’t stop there! With a little creativity, the Windpaddle Bimini could useful for a number of activities. How about a lounge chair shade?

MSRP $89.95. Availability in mid-March in yellow. See for details.
